On September 1, 2007, Stena Gotthard AB, Stena Scanpaper AB, Stena Miljö AB and recent acquisition RECI Industri AB will merge to form Stena Recycling AB. The new company will continue to provide all previous services, including recycling and management of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, recovered paper, plastics, hazardous waste and other business waste.
”More and more, the market wants one single supplier who can offer customized, full-service waste management solutions. We can be more efficient at offering such solutions by working as one common organization,” explains Monica Svenner, President of Stena Recycling.
”With activities in over 100 locations, spanning from Kiruna in the north to Trelleborg in the south, we are close to all our customers and can offer our services all over the country.”
Through Stena Recycling’s recycling services, vast quantities of waste are collected and converted into new raw materials. The use of renewed raw materials to manufacture new products greatly conserves energy and reduces greenhouse gas emissions by comparable levels.
”We have an important roll to play in supplying steelworks, foundries and paper mills with quality raw materials to make new products. Incinerable waste that we collect is used to produce heat and electricity in incineration plants,” explains Monica Svenner.
”The collection process requires a great deal of transportation but this merger will make it easier to coordinate our transports, which comes with the added benefit of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. In all, we can contribute to a more sustainable community.”
The purpose of the merger is not to reduce the number of employees but to improve our level of efficiency and set the stage for continued market growth.
