The man behind "Earth from Above", French photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand, has spent more than 3,000 hours in the air in his helicopter photographing over 100 countries. One hundred and twenty of these photos are now on display in Gothenburg.
The project, which began in 1995, was intended as an assessment of the earth’s key ecosystems, and through its many photographs creates a visual databank. The photographs are selected based on aesthetic and pedagogic criteria, and each one comes with a detailed caption from a researcher.
The wonders of nature
The exhibition portrays the wonders of nature and the impact of man on our planet in a series of large-scale color photographs. It challenges viewers to reflect on the importance of protecting our fantastic planet and supporting sustainable development.
“The Stena Metall Group is supporting "Earth from Above" because the exhibition and Yann Arthus-Bertrand’s work are very closely aligned with our own values - leading, quality and consideration for the environment,” says Thomas Andersson, Acting Manager of Corporate Communications.
