“My interest in circular economy led me to Stena Metall’s trainee program”

Shortly after completing her trainee period, Anni was offered the position of manager for a metal shredder plant. Now she could test her understanding of the value chain and of the overall business. This is also when her leadership skills were put to the test. Anni was responsible for a site with nearly twenty employees.

“It was a big step up. But I received great support from my manager and from colleagues in other countries running similar plants, so I had the courage to take on that responsibility. I was responsible not only for production and planning, but also for ensuring clear communication between the plant and the branches. It was all about making sure everyone understood the guidelines and policies, and that we were working towards the same goals.”

Today, Anni is part of Stena Recycling’s strategy and transformation team, working closely with senior management to develop business strategies, tracking progress, and reporting to the Stena Recycling Group. The job also involves preparing for the implementation of a new business platform.

“It’s inspiring to work with strategies and the long-term goals, since business strategy within circular economy has been part of my studies. I also enjoy working with so many nice and experienced people. I get to learn from these experts and work together to solve challenges.”
